In preparation for our discussion, think about the following:
- What are the different forms of shadow IT that are causing this data chaos? How is it being created or transferred from legitimate to shadow data?
- What’s the shadow data we’re not thinking about? What have you seen that would surprise us? Where is it living?
- How have we dealt with the problem in the past? What are new methods to identify and manage it?
- Are there managerial ways to control the proliferation of shadow data?
- What organizational technical controls can be put in place to limit the proliferation of shadow data?
- Not all shadow data is bad. Really only sensitive data. So how do you know what’s sensitive data?
- Do you do forensics to understand how shadow data got to where it is?
It all starts at 1 PM Eastern/10 AM Pacific. At the end of the hour [2 PM Eastern/11 AM Pacific] we’ll switch gears to our meetup where everyone will get a chance to chat face to face.
