Join Us 08-15-25 for “Hacking Burnout” – Super Cyber Friday

Please join us on Friday August 15, 2025 for Super Cyber Friday.

Our topic of discussion will be “Hacking Burnout: An hour of critical thinking about how security teams get overwhelmed and how to manage it.”

REGISTER for 8-15-25 Super Cyber Friday

Joining David Spark (@dspark), producer of CISO Series for this discussion will be:

  • Jonathan Waldrop, former CISO, The Weather Company
  • A special guest (which means we’re still in booking mode)

In preparation for our discussion, think about the following:

  • What are the unique burnout triggers in cybersecurity that don’t exist in other IT disciplines?
  • Is cybersecurity uniquely susceptible, or are we just too close to the problem?
  • How do you recognize when your security team has moved from “high-performing under pressure” to genuine burnout territory?
  • What’s the real relationship between cybersecurity burnout and actual security posture? Does a burned-out team create more risk?
  • How should CISOs restructure their teams and processes to build sustainable operations rather than heroic firefighting cultures?
  • What are the most effective interventions you’ve seen for preventing or recovering from team burnout without compromising security standards?
  • How do you make the business case for burnout prevention when leadership sees long hours and constant vigilance as necessary for security?
  • What role does the 24/7 threat landscape play in burnout?

It all starts at 1 PM Eastern/10 AM Pacific. At the end of the hour [2 PM Eastern/11 AM Pacific] we’ll switch gears to our meetup where everyone will get a chance to chat face to face.

ALSO…

  • Best bad ideas get first responses in “Department of YES” or “Beat the Bad Idea”.
  • The BEST bad idea wins an award and a really awesome CISO Series jacket. Also, if you register early by the Tuesday (5pm PT) of that week’s video chat, you will be entered into a raffle where one lucky register will win a jacket (Winners must be US residents. Repeat winners get a $25 Amazon gift card).

Super Cyber Fridays are open discussions where all viewers and listeners are welcome to become participants. Before the scheduled event, connect your webcam and microphone (avoid Bluetooth). During the discussion, if you have a question or comment, let it be known in the chat room and our producer will do his best to get as many of you into the conversation. We look forward to you joining us.
