Welcome to “The Department of Know”

The CISO Series is thrilled to announce we’re launching a brand new show on October 27, 2024: The Department of Know!

Why We’re Making This Change

After listening to your feedback and seeing how the security landscape has evolved, we realized you need something different than a traditional Week in Review. You need a show that helps you start your week prepared, knowing what stories matter, what conversations you’ll be having, and what’s actually going to impact your day-to-day work. That’s exactly what The Department of Know delivers.

What to Expect

This show is designed to help you kick off your week in cybersecurity. Each Monday at 4pm ET, we’ll feature a live stream running down the biggest news of the past week with two cybersecurity professionals who aren’t afraid to share their hot takes. After 30 minutes, you’ll know exactly what stories will be impacting your job and what to bring up on your next standup.

We’re not just recapping headlines. We’re cutting through the noise to focus on what actually matters to security professionals. Its your Monday briefing from colleagues who understand the difference between hype and reality.

This Show Is LIVE—And We Need You There

Here’s the thing: this show is built for live participation.

Every Monday at 4pm ET, we’ll be live on our YouTube channel, and the chat will be open and active throughout the entire show. This is where you come in:

  • Challenge our takes. Think we’re making too big a deal out of a story? Tell us.
  • Share your reality. Are you already dealing with the fallout from one of these stories at work? We want to hear about it.
  • Ask questions. Our guests will be monitoring the chat and jumping in with answers.
  • Bring your hot takes. The spicier, the better.
  • Flag what we missed. Did something happen in your corner of security that deserves attention? Drop it in the chat.

This is your community, and we want you active in it.

Your Hosts and Guests

The show will be hosted by me, Rich Stroffolino, producer with Cyber Security Headlines. Each week, I’ll be joined by expert guests from across the cybersecurity industry, CISOs, security leaders, researchers, analysts, and practitioners who are living these stories every day.

Aside from our rotating expert guests, you’ll also get to hear from my fellow Cyber Security Headlines producer Steve Prentice, and the big boss man himself, David Spark. Say hi to them in the chat!

Premiere Episode Guests

We’re kicking things off strong! Our inaugural episode on October 27th will feature Sasha Pereira, CISO at WASH, and Bil Harmer, Information Security Advisor at Craft Ventures.

Can’t Make It Live?

Look, we get it: meetings happen, fires need putting out, life gets in the way. If you absolutely can’t make it to the live stream, each episode will go out in the Cyber Security Headlines podcast feed.

This show will take the place of our previous Week in Review show, which aired on Fridays.

See You Monday at 4pm ET

Department of Know launches Monday, October 27, 2024 at 4pm ET.

Set that reminder. Clear that calendar slot. Grab your beverage of choice. And come ready to talk security with us.

We’ll see you there!
